WHO IS AIKA?

Hi there!

I'm AikA, which translates to "The Sweet Scent of Affection" in Japanese. I love spreading love and kindness to others. My goal is to be a source of happiness for those around me. I'm originally from Kanagawa, Japan, but I've been living in Seattle since 2008.

My fashion blog began in 2011, but I didn't keep it up to date, despite my love for fashion and my goal of pursuing it. Then, in 2013, I hit rock bottom. I still recall how crushed I felt. I couldn't eat and struggled to find my footing. Yet, fashion remained a constant in my life. I never lost my desire to get dressed up, and when I did, I felt a sense of relief and happiness.

That's when it hit me: fashion is my life! I realized this was my chance to chase my dreams and get serious about sharing my passion with the world. Since then, everything has changed for the better. I'm happier than I've ever been.

That's why I've made my life all about fashion. Find what brings you joy, peace, and happiness, and hold onto it tight! Never give up on your dreams! It's never too late to chase them. I started this blogging journey at 27.

My goal is to inspire others through my personal style and fashion, while also showing them that dressing well can do more than just boost your looks - it can also give you a confidence boost from the inside out. To me, fashion is about how you feel on the inside, not just how others see you. As someone who's 5' tall (154cm) with short legs and a long torso, I used to feel self-conscious about my body. But now, I love being myself because I've learned how to style my outfits in a way that makes me feel confident and look way better than I ever thought possible.

I am always switching up my fashion and style because I don't want to limit myself to one category. You'll notice my hair color and hairstyle are also changing. I want to be able to pull off any kind of style while staying true to who I am. That’s why I describe my style as 'diverse and versatile.' Still, since I draw a lot of inspiration from both American and Japanese cultures, I've worked to create a signature fusion of the two that works in both regions.Above all, I aim for fashion that inspires uniqueness.
